Graeme Borchers completed his National Diploma in Photography at Port Elizabeth Technikon in 1994. He majored in Fine Art and Design and passed with distinction. He assisted Sam Pillisier (New York based fashion Photographer) on assignment in South Africa before settling in Johannesburg to live and work as a designer for a young design agency called Jetline Visual Communications.

In 1996 Graeme left for Europe, where he photographed the Dave Matthews Bands first album cover, Titled Recently, and other images for the bands merchandising. Later in '96 Graeme started a one-year stint as Photo Editor for London based paparazzi agency Big Pictures. Before this completely damaged his opinion of photography and its purpose he fled to Scotland to repair. He then traveled France and later spent three months in India.

Later in '97, having compiled a years worth of travel and other experimental imagery he held his first exhibition alongside friend and fellow photographer Wayne Parker. The exhibition was held in and amongst the autumn leaves of Queens Wood.

His work titled Nucleus of Touch, which appeared at the Queens Wood exhibit, later Hung at South Africa's "New Signatures" exhibition in Pretoria. In that same year Graeme worked extensively together with friend and Artist, Brad Hammond. Their works appeared at exhibitions around Johannesburg.

Having settled back in South Africa and working as a freelance graphic designer, Graeme started to take on more commercial photographic work. Working predominantly on Editorial, Décor and Food, he slowly cut away from design to focus on his photography.

Later in 2005 he started taking on more advertising clients and has currently shot for many South African and International campaigns. Graeme shoots for a wide range of clients. They include Nando's International and Local, Steers, EMI Records, MTN, Absa, Edgars, Boardmans, Spar & Defy.

Graeme lives and works at his Johannesburg studio.
